WATER AND SANITATION AWARENESS CULTURAL PROGRAMMES

As part of the Awareness component, Street Meetings Cum Cultural Programmes were conducted by our staffs and cultural team members in 68 villages spread over 12 civil districts. The themes dealt were water and sanitation and Rain water harvesting . A total of 21,000 people benefitted from this programme.

Awareness in schools
Awareness on drinking pure water was given to 800 students in 12 schools. They were explained how water is contaminated and how to test the water purity. 90 kit boxes were distributed to the students and they were given practical training for using the kits. Wall paintings and writing in schools was another awareness tool. Wall painting was done in 8 schools.

IEC materials 2500 copies of a booklet prepared by SEEDS Trust on water and sanitation were distributed among the public and school children free of cost.

Capacity Building Training
38 Capacity Building trainings were conducted for grass root level workers of the TWAD board in 12 districts. These trainings were conducted separately for VWSC members, OHT operators and PRI members. In all 1520 members participated and benefitted.
